In an effort to enhance financial resilience among its residents, the City of Roanoke is actively engaging in America Saves Week 2025. This initiative aims to provide locals with tools and knowledge to manage their finances more effectively. The program, spearheaded by Bank On Roanoke Valley, will run primarily from April 7 to 11, offering educational resources and free programs tailored for community financial health.

Rising living costs have made it crucial to support households in achieving financial stability. Brandon Meginley, a Financial Stability Specialist at Roanoke’s Department of Economic Development, emphasized the importance of equipping communities with necessary skills. Throughout the week, various resources will be available to assist residents in mastering their financial management.

The challenges faced by local families are highlighted in the 2024 VA ALICE report, which indicates that over 43% of households in the Roanoke Valley struggle to meet basic needs despite working diligently. Abby Hamilton, President & CEO of United Way of Virginia's Blue Ridge, noted that such efforts are essential for fostering confidence and providing pathways to stability within the community.

This collaborative endeavor underscores the commitment of local organizations to empower families through improved financial literacy and support systems. By focusing on practical solutions and education, Roanoke aims to create lasting positive change in its residents' economic well-being.

Through partnerships like Roanoke Valley Saves Week and initiatives led by Bank On Roanoke Valley, the city continues to foster an environment where individuals can achieve peace of mind regarding their financial futures. These programs reflect a broader movement toward ensuring every household has access to the tools needed for long-term success.
