Revolutionizing the electric car segment, Cupra introduces its latest model, the Raval. Positioned as a sporty choice within the Volkswagen Group, this £25,000 vehicle promises an exhilarating driving experience. Designed with performance in mind, all versions of the Raval will feature sports suspension, enhanced steering capabilities, specialized software adjustments, and distinct tire options to ensure it embodies the true essence of Cupra's dynamic character. According to Werner Tietz, head of research and development at Cupra, the brand consistently aims to provide the most athletic variant on each platform.

Achieving peak performance, the Raval lineup is set to include a high-performance VZ version. Following the success of last year’s 321bhp Born hatchback, the VZ model is anticipated to elevate the Raval's capabilities further. While specific timelines remain undisclosed, history suggests that such top-tier models might take some time after the base version's release. The Raval will join the production line in Spain starting from 2026, alongside the VW ID.2, and make its debut at the IAA show in Munich this September. As part of Volkswagen Group's push into the affordable electric supermini market, other notable additions include the VW ID.2 X crossover and Skoda's Epiq.

The automotive landscape continues to evolve, impacting strategic decisions across brands. Amid slower-than-expected adoption rates for electric vehicles, Cupra has decided to extend the lifecycle of its popular Formentor coupe-SUV through a significant redesign before transitioning fully to electric power beyond 2030. Additionally, discussions are underway regarding Cupra's re-entry into the US market by the end of the decade. With only about 10% of current American car sales being electric, there is consideration for offering combustion engine models alongside electric options. Wayne Griffiths, CEO of Cupra, emphasized the importance of flexibility and appeal across both continents, hinting at a flagship electric SUV potentially leading future product offerings.
